Bonn negotiations: Cooking up a climate deal
An analysis, by Laure Pichegru and Terna Gyuse for IPS, of the negotiations towards a global treaty on climate change which concluded in Bonn last week, highlighting the vulnerability of countries to the impact of climate change.
"Vulnerability to climate change effects varies from region to region or from country to country", says Belynda Petrie, chief executive officer of the OneWorld Group, a research and consulting company currently running a five-year programme looking at protecting vulnerable livelihoods in Southern Africa from climate change.
"Some regions or countries are already much more water-stressed than others, requiring a significant focus on adaptation projects that strengthen water storage and flood management infrastructure."
