Recent advances in science and technology offer the prospect of further improvements in quality of climate information and prediction services, a senior Kenyan government official has said.
Geoffrey Wahungu, director-general of the National Management Authority, said decision-makers in various climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture, water resources, disaster management and health, among others, have the opportunity of planning ahead for anticipated impacts based on climate early warning advisories. “The continent is particularly exposed to the shocks of climate extremes mainly due to the economical significance of rain-fed agriculture."
