Cuba: Debate on impact of climate change in public health

At the 9th Convention on Environment and Development in the Cuban capital experts are discussing adaptation and mitigation of climate change and its consequences on public health in Havana, Cuba, reports Prensa Latina.

"Natural disasters are bringing accidents, infections linked to contaminated water, the increase of vectors and other long-term problems, such as the deterioration of the human being's mental health. This is the least analyzed phenomenon, and it might be the biggest problem of all," said Doctor Carlos Corvalan, a specialist from the Pan American Health Organization.
