Cuban disaster preparedness, risk reduction and recovery praised

“The level of Cuba’s preparedness and its capacity for risk reduction and recovery, with a focus on persons, is impressive”, stated John Holmes, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, in a message sent to the 8th International Congress on Disasters and the 4th International Conference of Firefighters.

Professionals, scientists, protection leaders and international experts will participate in the debates this week, which will include issues like risk identification, assessment and reduction; and the role of international promotion, cooperation and assistance.
