As climate-change negotiators enter the final stages of yet another global gathering (COP 17), rising sea levels spell disaster in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, writes David Williamson for WalesOnline. Scientists predict that perhaps as early as the middle of this century Kiribati will be submerged under rising seas, and its people forced to relocate. Many agencies are working to raise awareness among the I-Kiribati people and to help reduce the vulnerability of communities to the effects of climate change. For some people, however, it appears that it may be too late. Climate change is happening now. "Now is the time for climate-change action," say the I-Kiribati people.
