On 16 June, the EU Resilience Forum 2016 will bring together representatives from donor organisations, civil society groups, think-tanks and partner countries, to discuss how to reduce vulnerabilities in risk-prone environments and to help local populations withstand and recover from disasters.
EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides and EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica will host the event.
The Forum will host a round of the Resilience Dialogues, a series of events to monitor and report on progress on the resilience agenda born out of the partnership between the World Bank, the European Union, the Government of Japan, and USAID.
A high-level panel debate of decision-makers will discuss how local actions can address fragility and protracted displacement in the affected countries. The Forum will also include two 'Projects Labs' showcasing local actions for resilience-building, as well as success stories.
Event programme:
- 11.00-12.15: Projects Lab "Resilience on the ground"
- 13.00-14.15: Projects Lab "Tackling fragility, displacement and chronic vulnerability in the Sahel and Lake Chad".
- 14:30-16:00: Resilience Dialogue "Local action to address fragility and protracted displacement"
