Hawaii: Natural hazard preparedness workshop in Honolulu this weekend

The half-day session workshop, held by government agencies, will be addressing evacuation planning and early warning for tsunami and extreme weather conditions with flood and coastal inundation mapping also on the agenda, reports The Republic from the Associated Press.

The Natural Hazard Community Preparedness Workshop is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mission Memorial Auditorium at 550 S. King Street, Honolulu.

The workshops are free and open to the public and designed to better inform and prepare coastal communities throughout Hawai‘i. The first workshop of the series is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 on Maui. The next workshop will be on Oahu (June 11) followed by Kauai (June 16), Hilo (June 25), West Oahu (July 9), Kona (July 16).
