How Britain's taste for year-round asparagus is threatened by climate change
Experts warn that Peruvian production of the vegetable, which has soared in the past decade, is likely to be hit by extreme weather that scientists say will become more common due to global warming, reports The Guardian.
“There are countries for which adaptation is of enormous importance and we have to settle that issue,” Miguel Arias Cañete, the EU Commissioner on climate said.
Miguel Arias Cañete was speaking on the sidelines of the UN climate change summit in Peruvian capital Lima, where ministers are meeting to attempt to draft a deal on tackling climate change ahead of a crunch summit in Paris next year.
