India: Experts call for close collaboration between meteorology, public health
With climate change fast making its effect felt across all aspects of human civilisation, public health experts have called for more collaboration between meteorologists and public health experts to address various health risks arising out of climate change, reports the Indian Express.
John Balbus, senior advisor for public health, office of the director of US-based National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, said that such collaboration can help in issuing early warnings for spread of infectious diseases too. “Climate change is affecting all walks of lives and society. Allocation of public health resources can be done better if meteorologists can predict scenarios which can give rise of instances of outbreak,” Balbus said.
