India: Wireless network facilities for DRM in Puducherry villages

An initiative to install wireless network facilities will soon be available throughout villages, especially in coastal areas, in the Union Territory of Puducherry, to establish timely communication between the government and the villages at times of disasters, according to District Collector G Ragesh Chandra.

Mr Chandra was speaking at a one-day consultative workshop on disaster management and disaster risk reduction management organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the territorial government on Thursday 23 July.
