Jakarta - Indonesian authorities have called on citizens to 'play a key role in disaster response and risk reduction', reports the Jakarta Globe newspaper. Early this week, the country launched disaster plan, the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, or Planas PRB, developed by the National Disaster Management Agency (BMPB). Their goals is to raise public awareness on disaster guidelines.
“We hope that disasters can be prevented or their impact reduced, thus ensuring the achievement of sustainable development program objectives and increasing national welfare,” said BNPB head Syamsul Ma’arif.
