Disaster expert Keith Ford recommends to stop the practice of grouping critical services in accessible nodes or close to residential areas in Jamaica in order to avoid clustering vital services, which could be devastating in case of a disaster event, reports The Gleaner. The risk-analyst added that "While the development of the waterfront is important, this should be done in tandem with the development and implementation of disaster risk-reduction measures."
