The Lebanese government, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Swiss Embassy signed an agreement this week to launch the new project which, according to Swiss Ambassador Francois Barras, aims to "promote coordination between the government, the donors and the civil society in case of disaster."

“You might say that as with other catastrophes, Lebanon is rich in experience with natural disaster,” said Marta Ruedas, the UNDP’s resident representative in Lebanon, addressing the media at the signing ceremony. “Whenever a disaster occurs, months or years’ worth of our work might be lost, leaving us to start over again.”
