Manila links typhoon to climate change

While the UN climate change conference is taking place in Doha, Typhoon Bopha brought storms, flooding and mudslides to Mindanao in the Philippines, reports the Financial Times. Albert del Rosario foreign secretary of the Philippines has asked international delegates to conclude a Kyoto protocol 2 that would increase climate change adaptation aid to developing nations.

The Philippine's climate change adaptation efforts include raising awareness on disaster preparedness, risk identification and improving storm early warnings. An elevation mapping of the capital city, Manila is on the way as well, with the assistance of the Australian government.
