Government intends to provide food assistance to vulnerable and poor communities in flood-prone rural areas, as from this month, using money from the National Disaster Fund. Some donors also indicated that they want the money to be used for mitigation measures, reports by the New Era.
Money from the National Disaster Fund will be 'allocated to mitigation measures such as the relocation of people to higher grounds and installing pipelines,' said the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Joel Kaapanda.
