"Lessons learned on disaster risk management in Namibia over the years have demonstrated that some gaps still exist," says Japhet Iitenge, the Director of Disaster Risk Management in the Office of the Prime Minister, according to the New Era. "Resilience at local level will be achieved as a primary outcome of continuous efforts to enhance national capacity to withstand external shocks caused by natural disasters and to recover from these shocks," he says.
