Building bridges between different scientific fields, different communities of experts, is key to protect individuals from future extreme weather events and climate change.

Working out the right degree of resilience for infrastructures against floods, setting up the best plans to develop communities' capacities for adaptation... Starting from New Orleans' Hurricane Katrina event, these are some of the challenges outlined by meteorology scientist Uwe Ulbrich, and Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin.

Prof. Dr. Uwe Ulbrich advocates for closer collaboration between meteorology, hydrology, physics and risk assessment, in order to help local authorities and civil society get a better approach to climate change adaptation and a broader picture of what is at stake in terms of damage for coastal communities.
