New Zealand: 'Familiar enemy' - a post-earthquake call to rethink State policies

According to the Telegraph, even though New Zealand has not only the most stringent building regulations, but also advanced scientific tools to predict natural disasters, "sometimes even the most prescient technology is unable to forestall natural disasters." The author suggests that Tuesday's earthquake can initiate a rethinking of State policies with revision of existing building rules including the entire abolishment of brittle materials.
