A recent statement by Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Sidi, director of the National Emergency Management Agency at the Global Platform in Geneva last week urged governments to build barriers along river banks, move people away from low-lying areas close to rivers, as well as adopt strategic measures to control floods, reports The Tribune.
