The Nigerian Federal Government has unveiled its plans to develop a comprehensive National Framework for Climate Service (NFCS), with the aim of equipping Nigerians and policy makers with science-based climate information to enable them to face challenges of climate change. The plan was announced this week in Abuja at a conference on 'Application of Meteorological Information in Weather Disaster Risk Reduction and Socio-Economic Planning'. Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah-Ogiemwonyi lamented that the devastation of the 2012 flood could have been averted if the Nigerian Meterological Agency's warnings had been acted upon.
