Okinawa plans to be the safest Japanese destination

With the launch of new initiatives designed to reduce devastation caused by possible future natural disasters following last year’s earthquake and tsunami, Okinawa’s local government has made a commitment to become one of the "safest resort destinations in Japan" through a three-step Tourism Crisis Management Planning Project.
As reported by e-Travel Blackboard, the government developed an English and Japanese handbook with contents including what steps should be taken in the event of a natural disaster, coloured signage indicating the level of flooding, as well as a new tourism crisis information delivery system that will send out an alert prior to devastation hitting.
