Sharing the Pacific’s experience in developing a joint integrated regional framework for disaster risk reduction and climate change at the Asia Pacific region briefing, one of the side events at the 4th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Reduction conference now underway in Geneva, the director of the Applied and Geoscience and Technology Division of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Dr Mike Petterson, said some countries have now developed joint national action plans (JNAPs) or reorganized their national institutions arrangements to better co-ordinate their work in these areas.

"A major milestone for the development of this regional roadmap will be a joint meeting of the Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management and the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable in Nadi, Fiji next month." "The outcomes of the Joint Meeting will also feed into the development of the post 2015 Global Framework for Disaster Reduction and post 2015 Development Agenda," said Dr Petterson.
