Pakistan: Disaster-resilient school communities urged

Considering the vulnerability of children and the role schools can play in case of any natural or human induced disaster, the speakers of a seminar have stressed for creating disaster-resilient school communities that are better trained and equipped for dealing with any such emergency situation, writes Myra Imran for the News International.

“The NDMA is also advocating at political level to adopt disaster as subject in the curriculum,” said Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir of the Disaster Management Authority - stressing that all stakeholders should play their role in creating awareness on disaster risk management.
