Pakistan: Need for strengthening of disaster management system underscored

Major General Asghar Nawaz, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has emphasised the need for further strengthening integrated disaster management system and co-ordination mechanism amongst all relevant stakeholders to ensure better preparedness to face the natural calamities, reports the Business Recorder.

Addressing the National Review Conference to analyze the flood management and response efforts undertaken during 2015 floods by all stakeholders Chairman NDMA appreciated the collaborative role of various departments that resulted in satisfactory management of 2015 Floods. Chairman NDMA also reiterated that the aim of such conferences is to identify the gaps, record the lessons learnt / best practices and to devise strategy for future.
