The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has initiated projects to enhance livelihoods and reduce communities’ vulnerability to disasters in 3 districts of Sindh through a grant of $2.78 million from the government of Australia, reports the Daily Times.

Around 13,200 families will receive cash payments for participation in disaster risk reduction activities. “One of the major factors affecting livelihoods in these areas is inadequate water. This project will see the construction of community assets that will help improve livelihoods and sustainable food security” said Lola Castro, WFP Pakistan Representative and Country Director.
