Pakistan: Workshop on flood fore-warning system seeks media role

A workshop was organised by the Pakistan Meteorological Department with World Food Programme (WFP) and Sustainable Land Management Project (SLMP) in Pakistan on 3 November which focused on the 'Role of media for strengthening an early warning system for floods and droughts' according to the News International. The participants considered that early warning and media have crucial roles to play in order to reduce the impacts of risks triggered by natural hazards.
