Philippines evaluates calamity preparedness

The Senate Committee on Climate Change convened today to assess the country’s preparedness should any natural calamity strikes and to discuss measures to raise the citizen's awareness against disaster risks.

The meeting would assess the physical durability of structures and contingency plans of institutions during earthquakes, primarily in heavily-populated area. It also seeks to identify early warning system points for earthquakes and tsunamis.
