The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), holding on 9 February its General Assembly and Mayors’ Forum at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City, will celebrate their successes in disaster mitigation and then prepare for better risk reduction and management in times of calamities. The theme this year is “LMP: Celebrating Three Years of Unity, Solidarity and Progress,” with President Aquino as their guest of honor and speaker.

LMP national president Mayor Leonardo “Sandy” Javier Jr. of Javier, Leyte explained that they chose the theme because in the past three years, there were great changes enacted on the government’s capability to address natural calamities and prove their resiliency. “Amidst killer earthquakes, the strongest typhoon in memory and other calamities, we are celebrating three years of hardwork, growth, and unity,” Javier said. “Our unity is indeed a gift and we have attained it because of mutual respect.”
