Philippines: Preparedness after Ondoy - implementing the disaster risk reduction management act
Citing recommendations for ensuring full implementation of the Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010, Business World reports 'among other action plans, the government needs to adopt a national land-use mapping plan', requiring 'a strong dose of political will'.
The Republic Act (RA) No. 10121, or National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act of 2010, does not focus solely on disaster response effort, but prescribes a framework of action that includes mitigation, preparation, response, recovery, rehabilitation, and development, involving more than 40 member agencies in the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
