Press release: Press office of President Viktor Yanukovych

'President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych believes that measures must be applied so that our country was better prepared to combat emergencies, including the threat of fires, he said during today’s conference call with regional governors.

President Yanukovych expressed his confidence that current situation in that area, as well as bitter experience of our neighbours prove that we must prepare for similar situations in the future, first of all, by applying preventive measures.

According to the President, the authorities must dedicate much more attention to combating emergency situations, or even better to make everything in order to “avoid them at all”. In this context, the President instructed the Government to consider the results of current work and study experience of our neighbours at one of its meeting after the difficult period is over. "This year we must provide that in the following years we had necessary instruments and equipment, in order to combat natural disasters, including the fire,” he said

Addressing Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Klyuyev, who is Government’s responsible for combating the threat of fires, the President said that the appropriate proposals must be prepared at a Cabinet’s meeting. "If you need my help, I am ready to help, and we must prepare for the next year very seriously," he said.'
