A Solomon Island group is hoping to make life easier for people living with a disability when it comes to natural disasters through better planning and more inclusion.

Disabled People’s Association of Solomon Islands (DPASI) is working to better inform people living with a disability, especially when it comes to natural disasters.

“The aim or the objective of this project is to ensure that people with a disability are able to understand and know about their rights, especially during disaster and climate change crisis,” Stella Waioha, disability rights fund project officer.

Part of the association’s goal is also to set up a disability taskforce in Solomon Islands with a focus on more inclusive evacuation centres across the country.
