Economic and other losses from natural disasters are increasing throughout the world. Despite the increasing technological performance of grey infrastructure, these are not always effective, adaptive and flexible to handle climate variability and change. For a more sustainable and resilient future, it is essential to acknowledge their limitations and recognise the need to incorporate Nature-Based Solutions into hybrid solutions which can provide more robust, sustainable and cost-effective means for hydro-meteorological risk reduction.

I welcome you to the RECONECT community, where we will be sharing the knowledge and experience around Nature-Based Solutions and together rethink the nature and purpose of our landscapes to reduce hydro-meteorological risk, increase well-being, and enhance ecosystems.
