Rwanda: Youth encouraged to lead disaster prevention efforts

'Protection of children before, during and after disasters should be prioritised because they are physically weak,' declared Gen Marcel Gatsinzi, the Minister of Disaster Preparedness and Refugee Settlement.

For the first time, the International Day for Disaster Reduction was marked in Rwanda with a call aimed to promote the participation of youth in disaster risk reduction activities. Edward Nsabimana, a resident, explained that due to the disasters, food security is also threatened in some regions of Rwanda.
