South Korea on Tuesday accepted North Korea's proposal that scientists from both countries conduct joint research on an active volcano extolled in the North as the sacred birthplace of Kim Jong Il. If realized, the proposed discussions between the two countries' volcanologists could represent a rare bit of cooperation between the rivals on the divided Korean peninsula, reports the Seattle Times.
