The Eastern Cape government will be presenting its strategy to combat climate change at COP17 in Durban, reports the South African Government News Service. "The strategy which has been developed is a pro-active rather than reactive approach. COP17 will also provide DEDEAT and related entities the opportunity to profile some of the planned interventions," said department MEC Mcebisi Jonas. The strategy comprises four categories: monitoring, mitigation, adaptation and resilience. Adaption activities include food security and rain water harvesting.
