The 2010-2011 World Disaster Reduction Campaign, Making Cities Resilient: 'My city is getting ready!' was launched at the Planning Africa 2010 conference, in Durban this week, by the United Nations secretariat for the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) in conjunction with UN-Habitat.

"A resilient city and its citizens can benefit greatly from the opportunities presented by urban risk reduction actions. We are inviting people to take an active role in the campaign so that our cities and urban centres can become safer today and for generations to come," said Margareta Wahlström, UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and head of UNISDR.
