“The Caribbean is the second most vulnerable region to natural hazards which fuels the realisation that our vulnerability can either be negatively or positively impacted by what we do or do not do,” said CDEMA community specialist Mrs. Velda Octave-Joseph.

The specialist was talking in St. Kitts at the recent Disaster Risk Management Plan Adaptation workshop, which was organized by NEMA and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). In the past two years NEMA and CDEMA has collaborated on a Community Disaster Risk Management Sub-Regional Project, a Vulnerability Assessment Exercise and a Disaster Planning and Telecommunication Workshop.
