Supercomputer will ‘prepare for the future by solving tomorrow’s problems today’

"One of the most powerful computers in the world for use in environmental research and forecasting" has been set up at the National Institute of Water & Atmospheric Research (NIWA) to help New Zealand scientists’ produce more accurate forecasts of the impacts of severe weather events such as flooding, storm surge and inundation, as well as to model climate change, river flow, ocean levels and wave patterns.
