Children are the main focus for this year's International Day for Disaster Reduction event, which takes place today at the UN conference centre in Bangkok, says the Bangkok Post. Children and youth are encouraged to play a greater role, not only as the most vulnerable group, but more importantly as a potential resource in awareness-raising and decision-making in the area of disaster-risk management.
