Thailand: Flood-zone locals say no to new dams

During a series of public meetings, residents living in river basins opposed large-scale dams and called for the government to address flood and drought problems. According to the Bangkok Post, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Petipong Pungbun Na Ayudhya said the government expressed concern about the plight of residents living in areas vulnerable to floods, but he warned looming droughts could pose a bigger threat.
