Thailand: 'No lessons learnt' from floods

Thailand has failed to learn from previous flood disasters, an international environmental change conference was told, as reported by the Bangkok Post. Louis Lebel, director of Chiang Mai University's Unit for Social and Environmental Research, said the government should think about a long-term solution to flooding crises in the next decade ahead, not only in the next flood season. Experts at the seminar also agreed policy-makers need to pay more attention to environmentally induced migration to lessen the risk and displacement impacts of climate change.
