Bangladesh is one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world – particularly when it comes to extreme weather events. With 80% of the land lying on a flood plain and a population of over 150 million, even a relatively small disaster can affect a lot of people. In this context, disaster preparedness is essential.

Funded partly by the European Commission, the TV show Amrai Pari ('Together we can do it') visits communities in the most vulnerable areas of the country as they work to strengthen storm defences in fishing areas, make cyclone shelters child-friendly, improve the safety of their homes or factories or start a new small business. In this way, the programme hopes to inform and inspire others by showcasing simple, low-cost solutions to everyday problems that can be easily replicated.
