Uganda: Empower local governments to manage climate change issues - Experts

Climate change experts have asked government to prioritize empowerment of local governments to manage climate change issues, reports New Vision. They are concerned that government should come up with a special structure under which climate change issues can be funded within the local governments.

Speaking during the dissemination of study findings on 'climate change adaption and rural institutions in Uganda' at Fairway Hotel, the Principal of the Makerere University College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Bernard Bashasha, stressed that local governments are very key in mitigation and adaption of climate change impacts if the country is to realize positive results
