UK Climate Adaptation Plan: Firms urged to report on climate resilience

The government has unveiled a newly updated strategy designed to prepare the UK for the most pressing climate risks over the next five years by tackling water shortages, flooding, soil erosion and overheating, as well as threats to infrastructure, business and industry.

For the first time, the strategy is integrated with plans to encourage infrastructure operators to report on the actions they are taking to adapt to climate change, with a full list of reporting organisations set for publication later in the year.
The government said it would work with a range of industries and provide support to organisations as they develop their reporting processes, in a bid to "help them understand and take action to address the impacts of climate on their businesses".

Flooding and health risks from high temperatures are identified in the report as posing the biggest risks to the country, followed by water shortages, natural capital risks, threats to domestic food production and supply, and increased threats from pests and diseases.
