UN to assist Peru in national strategy for managing natural hazards

According to the Peruvian news agency, Andina, Peru’s Prime Minister, Javier Velasquez Quesquen has announced that the United Nations will assist Peru in implementing a national strategy to mitigate the effects of natural hazards, such as earthquakes or tsunamis.

Mr Velasquez met with the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Reduction, Margareta Wahlström, who was in Lima at the end of last week, to support the implementation of the national plan for disaster reduction
