UN offers to assist Ghana deal with disaster prevention

The United Nations Office in Ghana has expressed its readiness to help and support the coordinated efforts of government to solve the perennial floods in the capital.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana, Ms Christine Evans-Klock, declared: "We are prepared to work with other stakeholders to achieve that goal”, when with the Deputy National Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr Ebenezer Dosso, she toured the disaster-hit areas in Accra. Many people died in the torrential rains that hit Accra last Wednesday, June 3, and in the fire outbreak at the GOIL Filling Station at Circle.
