Chief Minister VS Achutanadan released the Kerala State Policy on Disaster Management & District Disaster Management Plans yesterday in Thycaud at the opening of the ‘Consultation Workshop on Disaster Management Plans.’

“Kerala has been continuously facing serious challenges in the form of natural disasters. Many such incidents have occurred in the recent past. It's high time we took measures to avoid these kinds of disasters, which cause heavy damage to the human kind and the economy of our state. Central Government's approach to these kinds of disasters is unscientific. The committee proposed by the Central Government to make a study on the natural calamity like drought, arrives after the monsoon”, said VS Achutanadan in his inaugural address.
