
The private sector in most countries is responsible for about 80 per cent of all investment, thus it is imperative that they are involved in dealing with climate change.
“Unless we can get the private sector closely engaged for its self-interest...contributing to an environment that is much better for investment income and viability, then we are not likely to succeed,” UN special representative for disaster risk reduction Margareta Wahlström told Irish Times. She added that “We must realise that disasters are not created by natural forces but rather as a result of how we organise society.”
