Toronto, Canada: Ice storm 2013 - Hundreds of thousands still without power on Monday

Over 350 thousand people are still without power following an ice storm that splintered trees and turned roads into fields of ice over the weekend. According to officials, it may take until Wednesday until the power will be restored in every effected home, reports Huffington Post.

Anthony Haines, CEO of Toronto Hydro said that "We've been cognizant of climate change for a long time at Toronto Hydro." Mr Haines added that Toronto Hydro has been pruning back trees more aggressively in recent years and has been using more durable cables as a preparation for an increasingly volatile weather.
