India: Punjab to launch disaster management plan for power supply

The plan is likely be launched by this December. Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd, responsible to generate, transmit, distribute and maintain electricity supply system in the state, have devised a comprehensive disaster management strategy to make power available even in disasters to the citizens, a power department spokesperson said here today.

"The plan aims at restoration of power supply as quickly as possible," a power department spokesperson said in an article by the Economic Times. In accordance with the state plan, Powercom would draw up mitigation, preparedness and response plans including capacity-building, data collection, damage assessment and rehabilitation and reconstruction...
